As I crossed the finish line at the Tulsa Marathon, I felt surprisingly strong and incredibly joyful. The events that morning were the most atypical of any marathon I had experienced.

When we look at the world and see division, death and destruction, let us also see God’s lost children who only know this world and don’t know the glorious hope in Jesus Christ.

Have you ever driven behind a semi? Do you patiently follow it, cruising behind towards your destination? Or do you try to maneuver around and bypass it?

So on this Father’s Day, I have a deeper understanding that the “father to the fatherless” is my father as well.

The next time you are tempted to call yourself an idiot or get caught up in your mistakes, guilt and shame, remind yourself who loves you, whose you are, and who you are.
